About the Role:

Care.com is seeking a Workday HCM System Architect to elevate our Workday Human Capital Management ecosystem to best-in-class standards. This individual will bring deep expertise across HCM modules, understanding cross-functional impacts and system touchpoints to deliver scalable, strategic solutions. They will ensure timely delivery of enhancements, integrations, configurations, reports, dashboards, and security across Care.com’s internal infrastructure and external partners.

This role is focused on post-production support (AMS), system optimization, and continuous improvement of Workday HCM. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in multiple areas of Workday HCM, ensuring seamless operations, iterative enhancements, and strong alignment with evolving business needs.

This position requires a solid technical and functional understanding of key Workday HCM modules and relevant integrations with other HR and business systems. The individual will collaborate across business units to troubleshoot issues, implement enhancements, support integrations, and drive improvements in system stability, usability, and scalability.

Specific Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and improve Workday HCM configurations, integrations, and security models across the full platform.
  • Perform hands-on system configuration and administration, including/but not limited to business process updates, security role setup, organizational structure changes, and module-specific configuration (e.g., Core HCM, Compensation, Talent, Recruiting, Absence, Time Tracking, Benefits, and Performance).
  • Analyze system requests and translate business needs into scalable, well-documented configurations or enhancements.
  • Develop, review, and update technical documentation for configuration changes and functional enhancements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across Workday HCM modules, calculated fields, reports, and integrations (EIBs, RaaS, and Studio).
  • Support testing and deployment of Workday releases, including regression testing and feature enablement aligned with business priorities.
  • Conduct alternative analyses and impact assessments to support scalable, forward-looking HCM solutions.
  • Research emerging Workday features and best practices to inform proactive system improvements.
  • Operate in a fast-paced, agile environment with a focus on accuracy, timely execution, and change control compliance.
  • Adapt to shifting priorities and contribute to cross-functional initiatives related to HR systems.

Skills/Experience Requirements:

  • 5+ years of Workday HCM experience, with a focus on AMS/post-production support in a mid-to-large enterprise environment.
  • Strong technical and functional expertise in multiple core HCM modules (Core HCM, Compensation, Talent, Recruiting, Benefits, Time Tracking, Absence, Performance, Business Processes, and Security)
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting Workday integrations, including EIB, RaaS, Studio, and APIs.
  • Working knowledge of Scrum methodology, Agile development cycles, and collaborative sprint practices.
  • Experience using JIRA or similar systems for ticket management, sprint planning, and issue tracking.
  • Familiarity with HR compliance frameworks such as EEO, HIPAA, and GDPR.
  • Experience operating in SOX/SOC2-compliant environments, including structured change control documentation and audit support.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and logic, with proven ability to analyze, resolve, and document complex issues.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical teams and HR stakeholders.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Workday Certifications in one or more of the following: HCM, Compensation, Performance, Talent, Time Tracking, or Security
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.

Salary Range: $145,000 - $170,000

The base salary range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the national salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Care.com’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and short- and long-term incentives.
